A few more pages

I had so much fun doing that 15+ challenge that Barb issued us that I tried to do another one right after.  I used a clear item once again, but I failed on being able to use at least 15 different things on there. LOL

Comme larrons en foire

I still managed to get 13 though which isn't too bad. =)

Since I was in a scrapping mood, Barb issued our next challenge right away. We had to use this sketch over at 2 Peas. Little did she know that it was perfect for the page I had been planning to do:

Good sport

And here's another one that I managed to do in between all our challenges. Another one for my BOM album, this one about my first summer job. Look at that 80's hair! LOL

Plus qu'une première job

And now, I've heard through the grapevine that our Barb/Nath challenges might take a little turn on the wild side since two scrap buddies of ours - both creative and competitive - would like to join into our little fun! LOL So you might be in for a little friendly show down very soon. N'est-ce pas Miss Rach and Miss Katie?

But we'll have to wait and see for this one... They might be afraid since this Barb/Nath team rocks! LOL ;P

Have a good weekend everyone. A tad wet one but hey, at least we're not working! =)

July 03, 2009

I haven't shared one of these for a while...

My favorite comic strip that is.

Baby blues 18

It gave me a giggle this morning and reminded me of the bird family that we have coming over to feed in the backyard. You can see the father, the mother and the baby - well, baby, baby, he's almost as big as the other two, but he'll stand there on the top of the fence with his beak open and waiting for the mom to go get a few seeds and bring them back to him. I was surprised when I first saw them do that. I thought that once the babies were big enough to fly out of the nest they were also fending for themselves. But what do I know? Maybe the birds are following the evolution of their human counterparts and have to feed and take care of their kids longer and longer these days? LOL

Anyway, I tried to take a picture of it every time I see them but I'm never fast enough to catch them in the act. =)

Weekend is almost here now. One last day of work and day camp and we will be able to sleep in. Looks like that gym camp is making my oldest dd work hard because she could barely get up this morning! She still loves it though. =)

Have a great weekend everyone. Thanks for stopping by!

We are on a roll!

Almost as soon as we finished our last challenge, Barb came up with another one for us to tackle. This time it was inspired by a challenge posted on the fun blog How much is too much.

We changed this one around a little bit to suit our needs.  The rules as set out by Barb were as follow:

  1. Use 15 different things from your stash, preferably things that have aged at least 12 months in storage.
  2. Each piece of patterned paper or each type or colour of brad counts as one item.
  3. One of the items has to be a clear/transparent embellishment, like the Heidi Swapp ghost shapes or letters.
  4. Tools, such as punches, stamps, inkpads and pens, do not count towards the final tally.

Looks like this one really inspired me (and since school is finished and one of the girls is at her grand-parents I had a little more time on my hands LOL) I started it the same night and finished it yesterday. =)  I was very happy with the results until it came time to glue my ghost letters on my pages. Then I remember why I never use my Xyron and those things anymore... *sigh* How to scrap a perfectly good LO. =( Fortunately, it doesn't show too much on the picture. And it seems to have gotten better since yesterday too. Anyway, here's the result:

Cadeau tout échevelé

Here's the list in case you wonder:

1-2-3. Luxe Design, Basic Grey & Sultane pps (only used leftovers)

4. Doodlebug frills

5. Ribbon

6. Brads

7. Crate Paper glitter diecuts (this one is not from my old stash)

8. Scenic Route word pp

9. Hambly rub-ons (journaling lines)

10. Jenni Bowlin journaling spot

11. HS Ghost letters

12. HS Clear extras (heart)

13. MM staples

14. Rose Moka alpha stickers

15. CBX alpha stickers

Grand total: 15. I thought that I had come to 17 but I had forgotten that my date stamp and my corner punch didn't count. Good thing I threw a couple more in there. LOL

I really had a lot of fun to do this one so I tried to come up with one more. I haven't finished it yet and so far I only come up to 10... I'm not sure if I'll be able to add anything to it that I'll like. If not, I'll throw in the towel and show it to you tomorrow. =)

You can see Barb's LO over here. She flat out beat me with a whopping 28 items on her page! And that's from the girl who says she usually can only manage around 7 or 8!

We already have our next one chosen. So stay tuned for more from the Barb/Nath duo. =)

Another Barb/Nath challenge done!

So right after the completion of the last challenge, Barb issued us another one to keep us occupied. ;)

She challenged us to scraplift one of the beautiful creations from Nic Howard, this incredibly talented scrapper. I didn't replicate the intricate details in her page and that must be why the end result doesn't have the same wow factor than the original. =( But this is a page that I've been wanting to do for a while and I thought that the strip of smaller pictures at the bottom was perfect for it.

So here's my take. Once again, I've decided to dig into my older stash to use some of it. I'm always surprized at what I find in there that I had forgotten that I had. Like for instance, I saw that beautiful Sonoma line of pp from SR that I had bought a while ago and now I just have to play with them. =)

Supplies - KI Memories Pop culture lace cs, Kelly Pannaci pp, SR Sonoma word line, Jenni Bowlin journaling spot, Doodlebug alpha stickers (well, those are new LOL), AC details embellishment & Remarks alpha rub-ons, MM staples, Versa color ink.

And here's the original:

I can't wait to see what Barb will be coming up with. We'll have to stay tuned for this one. =)

We're already on the last day of the weekend. Good thing that there is another national holiday coming up in a couple of days. LOL I wonder if we'll get a nice day once again?

Gymnastics day camp is going well. The girls seem to like it so far. They got a bit of sore muscles out of the first few days but I guess that had to be expected.  This week Morgane is going to enjoy some one on one time with her grand-parents. No sister to get along with and compromise with. No mean parents that don't want her to do this or that or eat this or that.  Laetitia's turn will come later this summer.

Our summer vacations will be arriving in no time so I'm trying to check a couple of things out to decide what we'll be doing then. I'm always excited once I start doing this. Feels like we're almost there.  Until then, I guess I should enjoy my Sunday. I hope that everyone is doing the same! Thanks for stoping by! =)

Bonne St-Jean!

What a gorgeous day we are having for our national holiday! =) Sunny and hot. A great combination in my mind.

I had hoped to go and see some fireworks yesterday with the girls but after coming home, I didn't feel like packing up our stuff and get there anymore. So, instead we had  an end-of-school-year celebration dinner at St-Hubert. We'll catch some celebrations today later on.

I finally finished my page for our Barb/Nathalie latest challenge. I'm pretty happy with the result but Barb was right, that was a lot of stuff to put on our page. I didn't think it was when I gathered them though. LOL

Sugar or spice

You can see Barb's page here.

I've also got to show you the gift the girls made for Patrick for Father's Day. Aren't they cute?

IMG_9345-1

Gotta keep the cats away from them though... LOL

I hope that everyone has a great day! I know we are enjoying the sun and hot weather!

June 22, 2009

Ok, I'm ready... bring it on!

School can be over now. I'm done making the girls teachers and educators' cards and putting nice little personalized messages in there along with a little gift card to thank them. =)

Decided to take the "easy" way out for the end of the year and go with gift cards from Archambault and from Indigo (for Morgane's teacher snce she was in English immersion for the past five months. Besides getting a bit lazy this year, I figured that they probably would rather have something like this than, let's say... a coffee mug. LOL  These guys must like to read don't they? LOL

Anyway, bring on the last day of class! Morgane who has been saying that she didn't want to go to school and that she didn't like school is now saying that she doesn't want school to end... Go figure! LOL I think it's probably more the friends that she'll be missing and not the classrooms per se. =P

They both have a visit to the pool planned with their classrooms in the afternoon and probably much more celebrations during the day. I'm pretty sure that nothing academic will be going on tomorrow.

I remember my last day of school back when I was in primary school. We used to play games all day and usually were able to go back home early. We'd also bring a bucket and some rags to clean our desk for the next kid that would be using it in September...

Now, I'll have to figure out what to do with all those books and papers. If I keep all of their stuff over the years I'll need an addition to the house to store those and all the different crafts that they also bring back during the school year. LOL

I'll be keeping all of Laetitia's books and notes for sure since it will be helpful if need be next year for Morgane.

So now I can go back to my regular scrap routine and try to do the challenge that I issued to Barb some weeks ago when I had sent her a little care package while keeping a similar one for myself. I had taken a picture of both kits to show you when it would be time but I can't seem to find them anymore... That's honestly the first time I can't put my finger on a picture that I have taken. =( Oh well, anyway, if you want to see Barb's page it's over here.  She did a great job. Now I have to come up with something myself. =)

One day of work before the national holiday for us in Qc. Hopefully I'll be able to find a place near us where we can bring the girls to see some fireworks. I love going to see the fireworks on St-Jean-Baptiste Day. =)

Take care everyone!

Some more scrapping

Here are a couple of pages that I did over the last week inspired by sketches from the JustCre8 forums where my very talented scrap buddy Ann Costen is on the DT of.

Souper_costum_

Toujours_plus_haut

Ann is also part of this fun new site called Write.Click.Scrapbook along with many of the talented ladies that used to be involved in Simple Scrapbook magazine before it ceased publication. Another talented buddy of mine Melanie is also part of it. You need to go and have a look if you haven't already. From what I've read, there will be more fun coming along very soon over there. =)

If you are looking for new pages from me this week, you'll probably have to wait. Instead of pages I'll be doing cards this week: birthday cards, father's day cards, end-of-school-year cards.  And it looks like I'm going to be lazy and not do any scrappy gifts this year... That's what you get when you mix a tad of lack of inspiration and some darn procrastination habit. I think it's going to be the year of the gift-card! LOL

Besides all the card making, I have some thousands of pictures to review from the girls dance recitals. And my Nero software that doesn't want to recognize my DVD burner anymore... *sigh*  Looks like I might be one step closer to a new computer! LOL

Have a good week everyone, and thanks for stopping by! =)

Another one for the American Crafts blog

I really like the weekly American Crafts blog challenges. I just love how they make look through all the yummy American Crafts papers and embellishments that I have in my stash and find all this great stuff that I've had for some time but somehow forgotten a bit. This week, we had to scrap a retro picture, a picture one from another decade. I decided to scrap this not that good picture of myself back in the 70's ready to leave for summer camp. I have fond memories of this. I just loved going to camp every summer. It felt good to go somewhere all by myself. I often missed home while I was away but I wouldn't have stopped going since I was having way too much fun while there. My parents never took summer vacations (or winter for that matter) so this was my own change of scenery.

Au camp

Supplies - Bazzill swiss dot cs, American Crafts Bookshelf pps (Seuss & Kinsella) & Thickers Vinyl Poolside alpha stickers, American Crafts Slick writer pen, MR journaling spot, Canson photo corner, staples, Crafter's ink.

Thanks for stopping by and having a look. The weekend is almost there! I can't wait! I hope that you all have a good one! =)

I need a faster computer!

Ok, I'm tired. I've just finished downloading the 2000 + pictures that we've taken tonight. The lighting was better but we'll still need to make some adjustments tomorrow. Anyhow, before going to bed, here's a couple of pictures from the girls just to give you a preview:

Another lost tooth and other stories

Yup, you've read it right. We are the tooth fairy's best client I think. Laetitia lost another tooth last night. Well, lost is a big word. Maybe "slightly yanked out by her mom" would best describe what happened. LOL  Please don't get too disgruntled here. The darn thing was already dangling and ready to go when I "helped" it after Laetitia came back from her last dance class last night. I figured that it was better to do it right away and be done with it since tonight both girls have a rehearsal for their dance recitals on Saturday and Sunday.

Anyway, it seems that Laetitia lost tooth stories can never be straight forward and simple. I think I've told before how she actually swallowed two of her teeth before and had to leave a note to the tooth fairy about it.

Well, this time she didn't swallow the thing but she thinks that the cat did. *sigh* After her despicable mom yanked her poor tooth out, Laetitia was in a bit of a shock at the sight of the blood and left the bathroom with a facecloth on her mouth completely forgetting about her tooth in the process. By the time she realized that she still had to put it under her pillow so the tooth fairy could stop by, she couldn't find it on the counter where her mom had left it. She looked everywhere for it, moving the cat away from the counter and from the sink where he spends most of his time and still couldn't find it, so she figured out that the cat must have eaten it and that's what she told the tooth fairy. LOL

Boy oh boy! Talk about a disappointed girl here... Truth is that I have no idea where her tooth went, and I wouldn't be surprised that the cat actually had something to do with the disappearance of it. I guess we'll never know.

Big weekend ahead of us for the girls. They have their last dance recitals of the year this weekend. Two nights of shows starting at 7:30pm. There will be some tired girls on Monday morning! I can't wait to see them on stage. There will be plenty of pictures taken on both days and I'll share some with you later on.

With the nice weather that they are forecasting, I hope that we'll be able to take advantage of some of it and I hope that you'll be able to do the same! =)
